Meet Donna

Donna Miller has spent her career serving the community and fighting to lower costs for working families, increase opportunity, and expand access to healthcare, particularly for women and communities of color. She brings deep experience in healthcare, training, and development to her role as Cook County Commissioner.

Donna has been involved with community, civic, and political activities throughout her life, including an internship on Capitol Hill, volunteering with the Red Cross, and working in communities disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS and Sickle Cell disease. Notably, she was instrumental in bringing together government providers and advocacy stakeholders to include Cystic Fibrosis in newborn screening in Illinois. And Donna is a national leader in tackling adverse health conditions attributed to or aggravated by pregnancy and childbirth, which occur more frequently among women of color.

Donna’s great grandfather was a Pullman Porter who helped build the middle class. Her grandmother, mother, and sister were all teachers. And her dad wore this country’s uniform his entire career. She’s carried their legacy forward, fighting to lower costs, increase opportunity, and expand access to healthcare, especially for women and communities of color. Donna served as Board Chair for Planned Parenthood of Illinois, Vice-President of Illinois Democratic Women, and President of Democratic Women of the South Suburbs. Donna is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is married to the Honorable Dr. David E. Miller and has two sons.

Donna Miller is running for Congress to fight back against those in Washington who are trying to tear down all of the progress she’s made for working families. As a Congresswoman, Donna will work tirelessly to build a future we can all afford.
